Katie Montes, MSW, BSW
Katie is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and Wayne State University with a Master’s Degree in Social Work.
Prior to coming to Mary’s Mantle in June 2015, Katie worked at a local non-profit where she had 10 years of experience working in programs designed to support children and families in need in the Metro-Detroit area. Katie came to Mary’s Mantle with experience in program development, contract compliance and monitoring, staff development and training, and budget management. Katie has specialized training in the Strength Based Approach to working with families, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Child Welfare Staff Training and Retention.
Katie and her husband Scott have three children and strong faith lives. They are actively involved at their parish, Our Lady of Good Counsel in Plymouth.
Kat Cotton, BA
Kat is a graduate of Oakland University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice with a specialization in corrections/treatment and juvenile justice, a minor in Sociology and a concentration in Addiction Studies. Prior to coming to Mary’s Mantle, as an undergraduate, Kat worked at Disability Support Services at Oakland University for 3 years and volunteered at Leader Dogs for the Blind. Kat worked as an intern in Mary’s Mantle’s After Care for eight months prior to becoming the Case Manager. Kat attends Mass at St. Rene Goupil in Sterling Heights.
Joanna Willis, MA, BA
Joanna Willis has been with Mary’s Mantle since August 2015. Joanna holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Spring Harbor University. Prior to coming to Mary’s Mantle, Joanna had 12 years of experience as a case manager and program supervisor working with families in need throughout the Metro-Detroit area. Joanna has been committed to women’s ministry and the Pro-Life movement since 2004 when she began volunteering at a Pro-Life Crisis Pregnancy Center. She and her husband are active members at their church, Word of Faith, and are raising three young children.
Elizabeth Onye, BSW
Elizabeth is a graduate of Oakland University, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. Before finding her way to Mary’s Mantle in August of 2017, she interned at Community Housing Network, gaining experience serving the homeless population. Elizabeth also completed an internship teaching an English as a Second Language class at the Hispanic Outreach Services through Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan. Elizabeth attends Mass at St. Benedict of Waterford.
Mary Martin, MA, BA
Mary holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, a Master’s Degree in Pastoral Studies, (MAPS) from Sacred Heart Major Seminary, and Certification in Spiritual Direction from the Dominican Center at Marywood. Prior to coming to Mary’s Mantle, Mary served for 15 years in various pastoral positions at St. Joseph Catholic Parish in Lake Orion. Mary continues to offer spiritual direction and training for individuals and groups, and she coordinates the Called and Gifted Program in the Archdiocese of Detroit, helping disciples name and claim their spiritual gifts. Mary is the mother of two adult children and is a new grandma.
