Deacon Dominic Pastore
Board President pro tempore
Deacon Dominic is currently serving at St. Joan of Arc parish in St. Clair Shores. Dominic is also a Knight in the Order of Malta and volunteers his time as sidewalk counselor for Helpers of God’s Precious Infants. As a sidewalk counselor, he has the opportunity to interact with those who are actively seeking abortions or are in crucial situations regarding pregnancy, housing, and/or family situations. He is retired from his role as electrical engineer for SmithGroup JJR. Dominic is married to his wife Teresa.
After 15 years in pastoral planning and organizational leadership, Mary accepted a position as Coach Team Lead in the Department of Missionary Strategic Planning with the Archdiocese of Detroit. A certified spiritual director, Mary supports Mary's Mantle and coordinates the Called and Gifted process, helping disciples discern their spiritual gifts. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a Master's Degree in Pastoral Studies. Mary has two young adult children and two grandchildren. She enjoys travel, cooking, and transforming sacred spaces.
Toni is the Director of Community Health & Well-Being Compliance at Trinity Health, a multi-institutional Catholic health care delivery system. Toni is a CPA with finance and healthcare related experience. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Financial Administration from Michigan State University. Toni serves on two community benefit committees for the Catholic Health Association of the United States. She is a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel parish. She and her husband Bob have two grown children.
Father John McKenzie
Fr. John McKenzie is currently an associate pastor at the National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica in Royal Oak where he applies his pastoral passions of servicing the Hispanic community, ministry with the marginalized, youth and young adult and urban and suburban communities. Father John’s endearing personality has roots starting locally in Dearborn at Our Lady of Grace and had stops in St. Louis with his family before his conversion experience in 2003. After completing a two year program in Rome he entered the Benedictine Community on Norcia, Italy. His next adventure was studying Philosophy and Formation at Conception Abbey and Seminary College in Conception in Missouri. In 2016 Father John entered the Sacred Heart Major Seminary and received ordination in 2019. Father John’s passion and experience with the urban and suburban communities brings an especially valuable gift to our ministry that beautifully aligns to the residents that we serve. In addition to his pastoral gifts, Father John has experience in urban and suburban marketing, social media, and donor development programming.
Father Phil Cooke
Fr. Phil is a priest of the United States Midwest Province of the Society of Jesus. He currently ministers as the pastor of Gesu Church in Detroit where he spends time both in the parish and grade school. He has worked at the University of Detroit Mercy where he founded the Center for Social Entrepreneurship, and at Red Cloud Indian School where he taught high school and was a pastor. He has a passion for walking with youth, especially those most at risk. By the grace of God during his time on the reservation, Fr. Cooke became a grateful member of Al-Anon. It was within the program that he began to discover how big his God truly is. And he finds that God keeps getting bigger.
James holds University of Michigan undergrad and graduate degrees in business and has a broad range of consulting and corporate finance experiences with Fortune 100 to middle-market businesses. His relevant skills for Mary's Mantle include: corporate strategy, strategic planning & modeling, financial planning & analysis, investor relations, and capital structure reorganization. James is actively involved at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Plymouth. He and his wife Marie have four young children.
Chris is in the Permanent Diaconate program for the Archdiocese of Detroit. He has been extensively involved in parish and community outreach programs including working with the chaplain’s office at a major medical center where he distributed Communion and prayed with hospital patients. Additionally, he has been a catechist for over 25 years. He has been involved in all aspects of parish service. He is a member of St. Linus in Dearborn Heights. Chris is experienced in process improvement management and many aspects of IT and business consulting. He was most recently with GM and has consulting experience with many industries including health care, insurance, and automotive. He is certified in project management and holds an MBA from the University of Detroit - Mercy, a BS in Computer Science from the University of Michigan - Dearborn, and is currently studying at Sacred Heart Major Seminary.
